After down loading Monterey when I drag an image from photos to my desk top it only shows the JPG image but not the mini photo

Try, open finder - go to menu in the finder>show view options, then minimise the finder window so you are just seeing the desktop and the view options and deselect and then reselect "show icon preview"

Try booting into safe mode. Does that fix it? If so reboot normally.
Regarding screesaver - someone posted a bug yesterday that it is just broken.
Not sure what you mean. Perhaps a screenshot will help
(Cmd-shft-4 - drag a box - it will be saved to your desktop)
No did not help - it works for PDF etc but not the photos. This only happened since I installed Monterey. I suspect there is a link. I also have the common problem with my screensaver not working since the loading Monterey
