activation lock

i was gifted an iphone through a friend of a friend and i can't get past the activation lock screen. there is no way to get in touch with the initial owner and i don't know what to do now .... i don't have a phone and i have to have a phone because i have children. i know there is some sort of solution with your help anything you can do to help me with this situation i would be most grateful.

Without that info, the device will forever be a useless brick. All you can do is responsibly recycle it.
