why am I getting message that icloud storage is full when it's not?

I keep getting this email:

Your iCloud storage is full. Because you’ve exceeded your storage plan, your photos, documents, contacts, mail, and device data are no longer backing up to iCloud. iCloud Drive and iCloud-enabled apps are not updating across your devices.

I checked my phone, and my current icloud storage is 14.9 GB of 50 GB Used.

Thanks for your help,

Mary

Hello,

It's from: noreply@email.apple.com

I'm assuming that it's legit, but maybe not?

Thanks for your help,

Mary
