apple card scam

I've received an official looking letter telling me my Apple card payment is past due. How to tell if this is a scam? It has the Goldman Sachs info on it, but I'm leery of calling the 877 number.

Receiving a scam email does not necessarily indicate identity theft. It's only identity theft if the email is a true email from Goldman Sachs and the user does not really have an account with them. If your account was used to set up AppleCard there should be all kinds of ways ot check for that. For one, you could contact Goldman Sachs:

I don't have Apple Card but I suspect you would have gotten various emails from them about setting up your account, plus you should be able to see this by simply trying to do something such as viewing your statement history. If you don't have a history then clearly there's no account. Click on the link to learn how to 'See your Apple Card spending history' --> https://support.apple.com/HT209489

Exactly right.


That’s why my post’s selected wording was , “MIGHT be an INDICATION … and APPROPRIATE action.”


Any indication of possible identity theft deserves appropriate diligence to check-out; although in this case I too suspect it’ll be a pretty quick “check-out and dismiss” process.
