iPhone showing day instead of dates

in Photos on my iPhone 6s, the photos I take are showing the day instead of the date. This seems to have just started recently since all previous photos show the date.

Do you mean photos taken in the past week? Those display the day of week, eg. "Wednesday." Older pictures show the full date.
