unwanted app installation
Why are unwanted apps downloading on my iphone?
I am only signed in to one device and had my automatic app downloads turned off. Is this a glitch?

If you are 100% certain that your Apple ID is only signed on to ONE (Your) device then there should not be any unwanted apps automatically downloaded to your iPhone. There is one exception here and that is if you are a part of Family Sharing with other family members. If you are then Purchase Sharing may be active and if someone in the Family group purchases an app (even free apps) then those apps may be shared with other members.

Thanks, I'm not a part of family sharing, and I've checked that my apple id is only signed on my device. I had once downloaded those apps (3-4 months back) but had deleted them earlier. Yet, they installed automatically without my permission today. (Those apps were kindle and canva). I can't figure out what it is.
Is there something that I should do to prevent any such happenings in the future?
You have Automatic Downloads set to OFF and therefore I cannot explain why your previously deleted apps got downloaded again on your iPhone. The only long shot explanation is that the iPhone was restored from a previous backup file when those apps existed on your iPhone. If you did not restore your iPhone from a backup then I am stumped and am unable to provide an explanation or a resolution.

Thanks for the explanation!
You are welcome.
