iphone Music sync errors

Syncing iPhone Music from my Mac has suddenly begun producing a string of errors for files that previously synced without any issues.

Typical messages are:

  • Some items, including “xxx”, were not copied to the iPhone “Chris’s iPhone” because they cannot be played on this iPhone.
  • xxx” was not copied to the iPhone “Chris’s iPhone” because it could not be found.
  • xxx” was not copied because the file type is not supported by the iPhone “Chris’s iPhone”.

The iPhone and the Mac are both using the latest system version

Can you play these specific songs on your Mac without issue? For the issues related to the songs not supported or able to be played on your iPhone, try changing to a different format, like MP3 using the steps in this article:


Convert music file formats in Music on Mac


As for the missing songs, you may need to locate those in your Finder and then import them into your music library. By default, your music is stored in Home/Music/. Check for them there and then import them back into Music.
