QR codes are usually a square shape.
To scan a QR code, just open the camera app and focus on the QR code. No need to take a picture. Wait a few seconds, and a message that says "tap here to open link" should pop up at the top of your screen.

Lyssa, thanks for your reply. I am a very senior citizen so tech issues are giant to me. I believe the barcode is QR code. Do I them merely take a picture of the code using my iPhone camera? Thanks again.
What type of barcode is it? Specific apps can build in the capability to scan a barcode.
The iPhone camera app can only scan a QR code.
