old ipod is disabled

I have an old ipod that it says it's disabled and to connect to itunes. I have it connected to my computer and I downloaded itunes and it didn't connect. How can I get it to work/open?

Try If you forgot the passcode on your iPod touch, or your iPod touch is disabled - Apple Support.
