unable to correctly count laps while swimming in a pool

Unable to get correctl count laps while swimming in a pool no matter what I put in as the pool distance for a 25 yard pool.

My watch counts too many laps and is erratic. So I swim two lengths/one lap and the watch will say I swam 3 laps or more. So frustrating.
