How to connect my replacement remote

I received an Apple TV series 2 & 3 and neither have remotes, bought a replacement and it still don’t work. Don’t have a Mac either

Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) use the Apple Remote (aluminum). This remote needs to be linked to the box to be usable.
