The update should get downloaded when the iPhone is fully charged and connected to WI-FI.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

Did you follow some of the suggestions in the page I linked you to?


On your phone navigate to

Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage

see if there is an update stored on your phone and delete it and then try downloading your update again.


I would also check your Wifi connection, do you have a friend or family member nearby whose Wifi you could try if the above failed?

Another option would be to update your phone via a computer if you have access to one?


If all else fails you may have to start resetting settings or you may even restore the phone, but hopefully it won’t come to that.
