About updating my imac

What password do I have to type in when I update my iMac because last time I tried all the passwords and it didn't work so I had to go and get it fixed

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

From time to time you will have to enter your password. If you are unable to successfully enter your password, then it must be reset. See the link blow for instructions.

There's no need to fix your iMac for this.


It is prompting you for your password that you use to log into your Mac. Simply enter that password.


If you forgot it, follow the steps below:


  1. Turn off the Mac.
  2. Turn it on, holding Command + R.
  3. Select Utilities > Terminal.
  4. Type resetpassword
  5. Follow the steps.
