Can someone use another number for iCloud
So when I try text my bf whom does not have an iPhone it tries send it as an iMessage and then I’ve been getting random iMessages from that number. If I call the number it goes to my bf’s phone though?

If I understand you correctly then probably you want to use one number for iMessage and another for SMS.
Try this, if you start the conversation from the old thread then you cannot change it. Start a new conversation from Contacts. As shown in the GIF below
