Censor filter is not properly conforming to shape mask

I've been trying to censor things in Final Cut using the censor tool. Because the tool is a circle and I want a rectangle, I've applied a shape mask to it (and increased the radius so that it fills the screen without the mask applied). However, I've noticed that there's almost a transition between blur and no blur, and because I'm censoring long, thin lines of text I don't want this, I want it to go from blurred to not blurred in a single pixel. Is there any way to fix this?

May I suggest a different way to accomplish what you want to do?

Remove all the effects you have applied.

Hold down the Option key, the click down and drag up the clip that you want to apply the masked censor to.

This will make an identical copy of the clip, right above the original clip:

Next, working on the clip on top, apply the censor effect to the entire image:

Then apply a mask (I'm using the Draw Mask) to the upper clip to create a mask that reveal the untreated clip below:

You can make the two clips a single Compound clip if you want to make it easier to transition to and from the masked clip.
