new podcast app issues

There are so many issues with the new podcast app, but one of the most frustrating is that it it no longer continuously plays my downloaded podcasts. I am subscribed to a lot of different podcasts. For instance this morning there were new episodes of 6 different podcasts. In the past I could start playing the first one and it would then continue on to the next show's new episode. Now once an episode is over it starts playing an older episode of that podcast rather than the new episode of a different podcast. Honestly I don't even know how it is getting to the older episodes since I always delete podcasts once I have listened to them. I only listen to downloaded podcasts so I don't use data.

It sounds like you’ve been trying to play these through the Downloaded Screen or Latest Episodes screen or Listen Now Screen and have tripped upon the bugs many others have experienced.

Intermediate Solutution

Play episodes from Show lists or, better yet, from a Station list to which you have assigned a few Shows. It works very well.

In the settings for a Show (right frame) you designate whether you want to access All Episodes or just Unplayed by Hiding Played Episodes. You can also list those episodes from oldest-to-newest or newest-to-oldest. Set all the options however you wish.

Try creating a Station then assigning a couple Shows you Follow to it. On the Library page tap Edit in the upper-right corner and choose New Station. Then make your choices in the Station Settings that you wish. Stations give you an extra sorting and episode-limiting level that can be different from the Show settings. The episodes play automatically in the sort sequence you choose.

The pic below shows the Podcasts app settings at iPhone Settings>Podcasts (left frame), the Station settings (middle) and the Show settings (right) in the image below. Check the blue arrows which cause Shows to be updated automatically and permit you to limit new episodes. Also note the blue circles that hide played episodes and remove played downloads.

Thanks for the suggestion. I put all my podcasts on a station and it looks like it than wants to play the latest episode of each one. I often don't listen all the way until the end credits so it looks like a lot of ones that I have already listened to aren't listed as played. I can try to get to the end of all of them so they will disappear from the list. BUT my big question is what am I listening to on the station? Are these downloaded episodes or are the streaming? Like I said in my original post I always manually delete episodes once I have listened to them. So this list in the station contains many episodes that are not on my downloaded list. I don't want to be using data to listen. That's why I always download them. While your suggestion seems like it would work for streaming, I just want to be able to listen to my downloaded episodes like I used to be able to do.
