Itunes support for Classic IPOD

Ok apple

You made your Name with the IPOD. I have 3 classic devices that are still running and working great, I have down loaded all of my CDs to them, etc. but now i can sync any new purchases that i do from your ITUNES store? so why should i buy my music from ITUNES if i can use it? I like them because I backback and don't have WIFI or cell acces. Are there plans for any further support? Can I reformat them and download with window and Amazon music? I don"t toothrow them in the cd player, cassette player, trash pile?

Sad day,

Brad Cook

Not me, I'm simply an Apple product user, like you.

  • You can add songs purchased from the iTunes Store to an iPod Classic
  • You cannot add music from Apple Music (Apple's subscription service) to an iPod Classic

Make sure you understand the difference between Apple Music and the iTunes Store - and while we're on the subject, there is no such thing as "iTunes songs". There are "songs", bought (or purchased) from the iTunes Store. They will be in m4a format (also known as AAC and can be added to your iPod)

  • You can also add music from your CDs (as you already know)
  • You can add audio files from other sources, such as purchases from stores such as Amazon, Beatport, Bandcamp etc.
  • Amazon songs are in mp3 format, which iPods can play. Stores such as Bandcamp sell music in mp3 format, as well as a high quality format named flac. Be aware that neither iTunes nor your Classic can play flac files
  • Unless I'm mistaken, you cannot use Amazon Music on an iPod Classic (for the same reason that you can't use Apple Music - it requires an active internet connection, which the Classic does not have)

Are there plans for any further support?

What sort of support do you mean?

Can I reformat them and download with window and Amazon music?

No, you cannot "reformat" Amazon Music or Apple Music.

I don"t toothrow them in the cd player, cassette player, trash pile?

I don't understand what you mean.

Personally, I suggest you think about the time when your Classic fails, which it will do, eventually. Mine did, a while ago. Not only that, make sure you have (and maintain) a recent backup of all your music, in case the hard drive on your computer fails. The music on any iPod is not a backup.
