Magic keyboard for iPad sometimes doesn’t type on Home Screen.

Randomly when I open my Magic keyboard with iPad Pro and use command + spacebar, no other key will register. All I can do is command + spacebar. The only way I found to get the other keys to register is opening up an application like pages or note, open a document, click to start typing, and close the application. It happens enough to be annoying. Today I could not type on anything. I had to disconnect the iPad Pro still could not type on anything. Finally after a few tries I got it to work. Has anyone else encountered this?

I would press command-space on the magic keyboard to search for apps to quickly open. Every once in a while the only keys that would work are the command-space, all other keys will do nothing. I have restarted the iPad, I have factory reset it, I even cleaned the connectors and the problem would still persist randomly. I knew there was a problem with my iPad because my friends iPad would work with my keyboard but when I put my iPad on their keyboard, it would not work. Turns out there was a defect within the iPad hardware or software itself. I had to get a refurbished iPad Pro and the problem never occurred again.
