Broken rack rail on Mac Pro.
One of the rack rails on my Mac Pro has broken off. Is there a way to buy or replace the rails with a new set. I see they're not available from the Apple store.
Thanks,
M.

Thanks for the response. The rails are, indeed, slim. In fact, the whole rig is highly customized for the Mac chassis. If I can't buy a replacement kit, I'm just going to resort to a standard reinforced sliding shelf. These rails are too particular to the unit to use a universal replacement. The third-party kits that do exist still require parts from the original kit to work and aren't server depth. It baffles me that you simply can't buy another set. I mean, stuff breaks. The rails even ship separate from a new unit. Unless the store could guarantee a switch-out on the spot, I can't justify lugging that thing in for this kind of service.
You could consider standard 19-in rack rails, but the ones on the Mac chassis may be extra slim.
Ask the folks at the Apple store what a rail replacement (service) visit would cost.
Do'n't quote me on this, but isn't there some level of On-Site service you get for your 10K plus purchase?
Not that anyone's ever informed me about. It would be nice, but I'm not sure something like this would be covered. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for something like that.
