Why no YouTube 4K on iPhone X?

Since iOS 14, Youtube is available in 4K on iPhones.

Apparently only HDR enabled phones do support this. However, I don’t have the option on my iPhone X and after doing some research and testing it myself it‘s only possible from iPhone XS and upwards.

Why has it been disabled for iPhone X? It has the same display technology as the iPhone XS.

Phones that provide display resolution 3840 X 2160 (4K) 2960 X 1440 (Quad HD+) 2560 X 1440 (Quad HD). That means you can watch high-quality videos on these phones with fast processing speed.

iPhone X & XS has --> 2436 x 1125-pixel resolution and this is not a 4K display, while these iPhones can record 4K video.

iPhone 12 Pro has ---> 2532 x 1170-pixel resolution and hence is not a 4K even

My information says that 4K resolutions are a waste on mobile devices as you (a normal human eye) may not be able to notice the difference on such small screens.

Why does it then work on my wife‘s iPhone 12 Mini? I feel like it does still make a difference when 4K is enabled, especially if you zoom it to make the picture full screen.

Only 1080p (which is the highest option I get in my iPhone X) doesn’t take advantage of all the pixels the iPhone X. Since even the iPhone 12 Mini got the option, it must have been disabled for IPhone X by software settings and I wonder why.
