I just purchased an iphone 12 pro. Does it come with a sim card?

Only if you selected a particular network provider at the time of ordering. (Not all countries have that option anyway).

Otherwise it is unlocked and SIM free. You need to order one from your chosen carrier and stipulate you want 5G (if you do) or you can use your old nano SIM if you don't want 5G
