TimeMachine question

If anyone is more of an expert on TimeMachine, my question is which folder(s) is needed for the restoration? I see a folder with latest date but also a folder called 'Latest'. The reason I am asking is because currently I am using an external drive to backup my stuff with TimeMachine but also want to store the info on an online storage. Can I just copy the last dated folder to the online storage and still be able to restore from it if needed?

No, that won't work, the last update folder holds only new files & then zillions of pointers to the other files in the other TM backups,
