I am have a mid 2011 21.5inch Mac I want to use a second screen to my Dell Windows laptop. I have a Mini DsiplayPort to 4k HDMI cable and a Mini DisplayPort ti HDMI adapter but neither seem to be working for me.
Can anyone help? I have also tried selecting F2 from my windows laptop and MAC does not go into Target Display Mode as expected.

Target Display Mode is only available for a select few Mac models, never Windows PCs. Only a few 2009/2010 27" iMacs may let a PC work.

Correct. No way.
+1 Correct, no way. If the PC needs and external display please buy one. Please remember iMacs are computers they were NEVER intended to be external displays for other devices.
