Hi TxNana,

Try this: If your new Mac inherits your backup history - Apple Support. Then, you can: Restore items backed up with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support.

the "restore" process will not recognize my Time Machine backup. Why? When I restart computer with the Command and R keys to restore to a previous version, the Restore process does not find any backups or my Time Machine. However, I can go into my TIme Machine (external drive)_ and the backups are there. What am I doing wrong?
