How can I delete multiple contacts? somehow I got over 1000 contacts on my phone- many listed multiple times and so far I can only delete them one at a time.

The easiest way to do this is from a PC / Mac, go to: https://www.icloud.com

Open contacts, and "multi select", on Mac you press "Command" while selecting the contacts you want to select. Once you have selected the ones you want to delete, select the "Tool" icon in the lower left corner and select "Delete".

If you use a Mac, you do not need to go to iCloud.com, where you can delete contacts by selecting them in the Contacts app on your Mac.
