Account update

Would like to update my payment method, my card has expired and can't remove it from the Apple account due to an Active subscription required payment!

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

You must first add your new card before you can delete the old one, because you still have an active subscription.

Strange. Usually it tends to be plug n play, add new card, delete old.

The updated one already added add payment method. But still can't remove the old one
