I am on Itunes version 12.11 and cannot recover my ipad, states i need IOS version 14 on ipad. Updater fails to update states i need a newer version of Itunes. suggestions?

Apparently the solution is to reinstall Itunes, and start over. Something in the upgrade process of Itunes doesn't register the current version correctly, I guess
