Apple may have had other reasons for removing the direct upload to You Tube feature, but for many users it was unreliable and didn't function properly. That's not to say that you weren't one of the lucky ones for whom it worked. The most reliable way always has been to export the movie to your desktop and from there drag it into You Tube's upload window.
