Even I don't have a M1 to test the feature, there are always some which works like magic and some which don't. I just need someone who does have access to both of them do a test and confirm that it does work.
When I googled I did come across some issues with Screen Sharing of M1 MAC saying it should be in English language I am not sure if that is any way related to the iMessage screen sharing. Buying Mac is a lot of investment and I hope the thing which matters the most work and works reliably.

Yes for sure.
You might want to consider purchasing an M1 Mac and testing with it. Apple does allow you to obtain a full refund (via the Order Status page) if you start the return process within the first 14 days of receiving your Mac.
I am not sure what "iMessage" screen sharing you are referring to,
but macOS Screen Sharing (set in System Preferences->Sharing) works
just fine. I have an M1 MacBook Air and can routinely "look" at my
older MacMini that I use as a home server and have also tested
sharing a late 2013 27" iMac with the MacBook Air and also the reverse
without any issue.
Yes, but I'm not sure it's going to accomplish what you want...
Screen Share allows you to remotely control one Mac from another. It does NOT extend the display by using the other machine as an additional monitor.
Question1: Does you MacMini need to be on the same network as you M1 MacBook Air ? I mean if you carry your M1 Mac outside could you connect back to your MacMini from say a coffee shop wifi ?
Question2: Is the connection from your M1 Mac to MacMini encrypted ?
I am not looking for a screen extend feature. I want to remotely control a M1 Mac from an Intel based MacBook. Both of them are on two different cities. If I could control one from the other is the traffic between them encrypted ?
You should be able to do that. All traffic is encrypted. M1 or Intel shouldn't matter one way or the other.
Hi bullet1,
I don't have an M1 Mac to test this with, but there should be no issues with screen sharing between Intel-based Macs and M1 Macs.
