Hey Stone9021,

Sounds like you're noticing some duplicate contacts on your iPhone 12. We'd be happy to help out.

To get started, we'd suggest checking iCloud.com to see if you notice the duplicates appearing there. The reason this will be helpful is it'll let you know if these duplicates are associated with your iCloud account, or if they're stored locally or to another mail account to start isolating things further.

If you don't see the duplicates on iCloud.com, then go ahead and go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts and check to see if you have any other mail accounts which may be bringing in contacts.

If no other mail accounts are providing your iPhone with these contacts, then they're likely stored locally. With that being the case, you can disable contacts for all your mail accounts and then delete the duplicates leftover and stored locally on your iPhone.

We hope this information helps you reach a solution!
