Do I need to update...I’m not very familiar and don’t know what to do in this type of situation. They are calling for updating...am I included? Not sure?

If your iPad has not yet been updated to iPadOS 14.4, you should do so. There are significant security updates included within this update, released only a few days ago.
Updating your iPad is very easy - from iPad Settings:
Settings > General > Software Update
It’s always a good idea to connect your iPad to its Power Adapter whist the system software is being updated.

Yes, it's always a good practice to install the most recent operating system updates, since they very often include security patches (beyond improvements and bugs corrections).
