What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

Manage AirPlay settings on your Apple TV - Apple Support

The Apple TV box may have a separate password set for AirPlay. You can look it up in Settings﹥AirPlay﹥Allow Access﹥. You can also change it or de-activate the password requirement there. This password applies to AirPlay to this device only. Having an AirPlay password is effective at blocking out unauthorized streaming to your TV.

Separate from the optional AirPlay password, you could be asked for a four digit pairing code. That would be displayed on one screen, to be copied to the other.
