I have a Mac Book pro running 10.10.5 and I would like to upgrade to 10.13.6. My system is mid 2012

I would like to upgrade to 10.13.6 from 10.10.5 but whenever I go check for updates there are none available and when I selected the High Serria from the App store i received an alert saying that it could not be opened as it was carupt. What can I do

You may have to upgrade to El Capitan first.
