Apple Cinema LED 27" display (A1316) won't display from 16" MBP using TB3-TB2 adapter - but shows up in system information ??

So I have an older 2010 Apple Cinema LED display with mini display port plug and connected it to a 16" MBP (2019) using the Apple TB3/TB2 adapter + Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter.

The display won't show from either the M1 Mini or 16" MBP.

However it shows up in system info as a valid display:

If the Mac sees the display, why won't it show ?

As a sidenote, I have a 2015 MBP using TB2 port connected to the 27" Cinema display (mini display port) and works perfectly...

Greetings RUSD tech,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems you're unable to use your Apple Cinema display as expected.

Check out the information in the article below:

"Connecting displays with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C)

The Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter connects Mac models with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports to older devices that use Thunderbolt (10Gbps) or Thunderbolt 2 (20Gbps). For example, this is the adapter that you should use to connect your MacBook Pro to an Apple Thunderbolt Display or a third-party Thunderbolt 2 storage device.

This adapter doesn't support connections to Mini DisplayPort displays, including the following Apple adapters and displays:

  • Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
  • Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
  • Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
  • Apple LED Cinema Display"

Kind regards.

To amplify what has already been suggested:

The Apple ThunderBolt-3 <-> ThunderBolt-2 adapter supports ONLY ThunderBolt displays.

NO other connection methods are available using this adapter. No additional adapters can be used to change that. ThunderBolt ONLY.
