Change duration of default transition duration on FCP 10.5.1

I have gone to preferences and tried to make the default transition less than one second. It will allow me to make it longer.

What duration do you want? Half a second? Enter 0.5.

Default Transition Duration Hello, I've created a couple of transitions in Motion that I've published to FCPX. For whatever reason, when I go to add the transition, it always defaults to be really short - like less than a second - regardless of how long I made the transition in Motion. How do you make standard transition longer? Hello, I wanted to know if there is a way to make the transition longer automatically when you press COMMAND-T without having to select it and do it yourself?

Thank you Tom. I was trying to type in # of frames as opposed to fractions of a second. Now I have to do some math.
