I received this email (from Ireland?) stating that my account has been locked for security reasons and if I do not respond in 12 hours my account will be suspended. I want to know if it is valid?

It's a scam and hopefully you didn't click on any links within the email - Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.
