Will I lose photos stored on the iPhone if I use iTunes on the computer to restore a disabled iPhone?

Yes, if they're not stored elsewhere. Restoring an iPhone erases everything on it.

So this was my mom's phone and she's passed away. If I bring it to the Genius Bar would they be able to unlock it so we can download her photos?
