I need to update my macbook pro from osx 10.10 to at least osx 10.12 for an app. The app store, however, isn't showing any osx update options. What can I do?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your MacBook Pro model is recent enough, download High Sierra, Catalina, or Big Sur. through the links provided; they're full-version upgrades and won't appear in the Updates list.
