Apple CarPlay

I paired my phone and car. Bluetooth and phone. But when I try to get the apple CarPlay going, it says: no device connected. Please advise.

Is your car capable of Wireless CarPlay? If NOT then you will have to connect the iPhone to your car's head unit USB connection with a cable.
