Final Cut Pro trial clip not showing in the preview

why is this one clip not showing in the preview? (you can see its black where the playhead is) i've tried removing it, replacing it, deleting it and putting in the original un-cropped, everything. It wasn't like this upon export, but now it won't show and an attempt to export the whole project fails.

okay, it was under movies, which i have no idea where that folder is on my computer since it's definitely not on the desktop.

Anyway that one clip still won't preview, even though it did before and it's the same as the rest. So go figure, i guess i'll just create a new one.

Thanks, both of you :)

There may be a problem with the clip. What type is it?

If you remove that clip does the project export normally?

There may also be a problem with the preference files.

If FCP X or iMovie start behaving unexpectedly in any way for no apparent reason, the problem could be caused by corrupt preference files.

The cure for this is to delete the preferences.

Hold down the  Cmd and Option keys as you launch FCP X or iMovie and a window will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences.

Click “Delete Preferences” and FCP X or iMovie will open in the default (as-new) mode with no projects etc. on the interface.

You will have to navigate to any project you were working on and reopen it.

Deleting preferences is completely safe and because of its simplicity it should be the first thing you do when troubleshooting.

This is NOT the same library. It is an Untitled library that is empty.

Libraries are FCP's "documents". You open and close them, like you would open any document.

They may be saved anywhere, though usually the default place is in your Movies folder.

Either double click the library in the Finder to open it; or, from FCP, choose File->Open Library->Other and then locate it.

see, i didn't know what those were and deleted them from the desktop, but i did that a while ago and they remained in final cut still, allowing me to edit and export too. it didn't delete the libraries until i closed out the app and reset preferences to try and get that clip preview to load.
