I can't remember my passcode for my iPhone. Are there any suggestions on how to bypass this -- or can I reopen it with my iCloud log in?

There is no way to bypass your phone’s unlock code. You must restore the phone using your computer to factory settings, then restore your most recent backup. See this Apple support link—>If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support or this companion video:
