Try unplugging the charger from the electrical outlet to reset the charger's internal circuitry.

Make sure there is no staples or other metal slivers stuck on the Magsafe port of the laptop which can prevent the charger from seating properly (it can be hard to see this sometimes). Also here is an Apple article for troubleshooting Magsafe charging issues:

Try running the Apple Diagnostics.

What is the condition of the battery? You can get the battery condition by Option-clicking on the battery icon on the menu bar. Any condition other than "Normal" or "Good" means the battery is either wearing out or has a hardware fault.

Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with an estimate for the repair.
