iPhone 12 CarPlay USB connected?? Is it compatible?
How will iPhone 12 connect to existing CarPlay compatible cars via USB? Will it work? Will the phone charger? The USB connection in my car is built in. Thanks

Thanks - saw some other comments on internet about the USB-A. Yes I have many :) as I understand it, the big difference is the new adaptor is designed for fast charging but the USB-A works as it does now. Really appreciate the reply.
My car has Apple CarPlay capability...and was installed to accept a USB A cable - for my iPhone 8Plus (via lightning connector port)
I now have an iPhone 12 and it seems to be ‘kicking on and off’ —- versus the iPhone 8Plus
Noticed that the iPhone 12 came with a cable that is USB C to Lightning Connector
Do I need to get a USB C to USB A adapter....or will the iPhone 12 work with a USB C to Lightning connector??
OR - do I need to go back to the Dashboard GPS Installer (Best Buy) and have them switch output to accept a USB A connector???
Please advise. It’s kind of frustrating...and I’ve tried multiple USB A Cables (with lightning connector)
I need advice. Anyone else having this problem?
Is the cable you’re using from Apple? I was told when I bought my Audi (CarPlay capable via USB-A) to use Apple brand cables due to high volume of data transfer that occurs when CarPlay is enabled and that non-Apple cables wouldn't work as well
You will need a USB-A to lightning cable. You probably already have several.
There are lightning to type-C adaptors that might works
I’m having the same issues! Have you found a resolution?
i have no problem, worked perfectly. my set up is usb with lightning cable. usb c and fast charge have no effects other than phone changes at same rate as xr did, non issue for me
This issue is driving me nuts. How do I know if the cable is USB-a or USB-c?
