I want to get a refund for an unknown subscription which I was charged for

First, confirm the charge is real. There are untold numbers of false purchase mail and messages being spammed:

Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

These usually seeking to obtain your Apple ID and password.
