Why does the Apple remote fail to respond consistently when scrolling?

Why does the scroll swipe fail to consistently respond on Apple TV remote ? Sometimes it move...most times it fails after many repeated swipes

new appleTV remote scrolling problem with HBOMax I have a 2nd generation AppleTV and recently bought the new Siri Remote. I really like the remote but it does very frustrating things when watching HBOMax. I am not sure if it is a problem with just that app or the remote, but when in HBOMax, the scrolling behaves VERY strangely. Often it keeps scrolling even after I stop swiping. Sometime it starts oscillating back and forth scrolling on its own after I have stopped. I have to exit HBOMax to fix it. The click button 15sec jump doesn't work. With other major players (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Peacock etc) it seems to work, but it works DIFFERENTLY on each app. On some apps scrolling clockwise around the edges on the touch surface will move it forward (counter clockwise for backwards) as if turning a jog wheel. The onscreen graphic even shows a "jog wheel" that duplicates your finger movement around the edge. On other apps the top half of the circle moves forward, and the bottom half makes it move backwards with the same clockwise scroll movement. HBOMax just goes haywire going and not stopping (the worst part). Am I the only one with this problem? is it a problem only with the older AppleTVs?

New Apple Remote "stick" when using it. I have a New Aluminum Apple TV remote that "sticks" when I am scrolling up or down and side-to-side. My parents have the same remote and have the same issues. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?
