I just installed Catalina. Remote Desktop Connection (32-big app) won't open. Do I need it?

If you're talking about Microsoft Remote Desktop, download the 64 bit version from the App Store.

VMware Horizon on macOS 11.6 After updating to macOS 11.6 today, VMware Horizon for Mac (2106) no longer connects to the remote desktop I usually use. It says "Desktop or application not available". That connection normally launches a Remote Desktop Connection app (not sure of the exact name). Another application icon in the VMware window (that I normally don't use) still works. I suspect the macOS update deleted something important.

Doesn’t matter if you need it or not. No 32 bit app will run on Catalina, period.
