Why my AU/VST are not visible?

So it's common knowledge that audio plugins on a MP can be found here: Go/Library/Audio/plugins/AU or VSTi none of mine can be seen....making it difficult to edit them or trash them if I need to. The thing is that they ARE there because they work in my DAW and I can also see them when I look at a drive I'm not currently booted into. It's odd anyone have an idea why this is?

This is happening on 10.11.6 and 10.8.5

Apple Mac Pro 2008 2x2.8 GHz. 3.1 and 1.1 2006 Intel Xeon Quad-Core

Also check the hidden /Users/... Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST

In Finder\s Go menu>Go to Folder, paste this in & press enter...
