I have deleted photos permanently and removed apps I don’t use and still have no added storage. Why not?

Hello - I know how to view my storage. That isn’t the problem. My problem is that I have been deleting photos and apps to free up storage and the GB shows the same as before I deleted them, even after I empty my trash.
You can view what is taking up your storage by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage
