Unlock XS MAX
My carrier just unlocked my XS Max. Do I need to reset my phone if i want to use a SIM card from a different carrier?

Depends on your carrier. Some require the restore for the unlock to complete, with others the unlock is processed without needing to restore it.
Try a sim card from a different carrier and see if it works. If it works, then you don't need to restore. If it doesn't, then you may need to restore the iPhone yes.
