I discovered that my iMac late 2009 is no longer compatible for the keynote, pages and number updates. What are my options?

Would it be worth to have them downloaded or purchase a new iMac?

iMac, macOS 10.13

The latest versions come with any new Mac. If having the newest versions are important for you, then get a new computer. If you have the versions compatible with High Sierra, then continue using them. You just are not able to update them. They still work.

In order to upgrade macOS, you need at least a 2012 Mac model.
